Quality of Care
Quality of care and patient care are synonymous at VNA. To ensure the highest quality we establish an annual training program for our professional and paraprofessional staff. Through training, we can teach our staff the latest techniques in homecare and reinforce existing established techniques. All staff are required to participate. We have also established an orientation program for all new staff to guarantee that they are practicing their craft at a level acceptable to VNA
We also employ a quality assuance nurse whose job is to review our practices and information about patients to ensure that we are getting the outcomes we expect. This nurse makes recommendations to improve care services when she any problems or envisions ways to improve the quality of care.
“As a homecare nurse you get to spend time with patients where they feel most comfortable-in their homes. I love having the time for patient teaching and to see the follow through of the benefits of my teaching. In home care there is a “continuity of care” and I enjoy this. As a new graduate, everyday is a learning experience – an “ah ha” moment. I thank my fellow nurses for their support and putting up with the million and one questions!”
